Carmen, I can understand your "complaint" but have you seen John's travel schedule? I personally know that he DOES care and respond. Some time back my daughter e-mailed John about my having missed his fall gig in Orange County because of a death...

I don't have a picture up because I am not computer literate enough to upload one on this site. BUT, how come your picture only shows the top half of your possibly beauatiful face?

Not much happening here lately, anybody notice? I think Carmen may have a handle on the problem. Just a thought.

About Me:
I'm going to be 47-years in this year. The last time I had a birthday not too long ago (OK, June) and my friends took me to the cantina. After dinner, the waiter surprised me with a big birthday cake with all the candles lighted up, so beautiful, but I could hardly see the cake. One waiter stands back with a fire extinguisher. Then he tried to pretend it was a joke.

I still live on a hill overlooking the lights of Las Vegas but spend more time in Pasadena, the town I love so much, all those Rose Queens. I have met many of the former queens at the bars there, maybe waiting to be discoverd. So sad, but they are still so beautiful and some times they let me take a picture, so long as my camera does not have more than 2-megapixels. I guess they don't want too much details to show.

There was a time when I traveled through parts of the Middle East, even became a belly dancer in Beirut before all hell broke loose. God I was young. Thanks God for where I am, this country.

Later, in Barcelona where I lived for a few years and sang at a club that was on fire for great American songs, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, Matt Monroe, even some Spike Jones, but especially Frankie Randall (I hear he lives in Palm Springs or Vegas) and on and on.

Nobody ever mentioned Pizzaelli in Spain, But Jessica Molaskey is very popular there. I loves so much her songs, but that guitar in the background seems like it's trying to steal the show. I know people in Sevilla who tried to take out the guitar some way.

I love the guitar and Doc Fleetwood has been so kind to offer to help me learn. My problem is that I never have too much free time. But I got more problems too, but another time.

Why Don't I Start Something?

I have not put something here in lately and so they ask me, "Why Don't You Start Something?" Not that I haven't tried. But I have a good questions... why doesn't Mr. Pizzarelli start something? Or Jessica? One teeny-weeny comment by Jessica ("Jessica Joins the Fray," or something like that just doesn't do it. And for why, what fray?).

Too bad, so many beautiful people comes here to pay tribute to John Pizzarelli, but it's like he does not hear, does not respond, does not... care. You want to kn… Continue

Some few things...

I am so loving this venue (I looked the word up). It is just right for what I am talking about. But I see a lot of, and please God in Heaven forgive me, lazy people, just joining up and not saying too much. It's like they tell you they are a John Pizzarelli fan, but that's all they can say. What is this? Do they not have something more to say. When I say lazy what I am meaning they can not even put up a picture. I think if they was to put a picture, people would have more to talk to instead of a… Continue

Hi Carmen
Hope this finds you doing well. Seems we haven't talked in a while though I've noted some of your posts on the site. Keep up that feedback ... I think it's great to see you and some of the other RD members, like you, try to encourage members to become more involved on THIS site. I've tried to figure out "Facebook", actually set up pages for myself and our Trio on "MySpace", and, now am told I should get on something called"Twitter" (whatever that is), but still find that the members of this Radio Deluxe site actually share my tastes in music and entertainment .....something very rare in this day and age. I also recently had a good conversation with a new member, Rafa, who lives in Spain and it dawned on me today that you mentioned your own time in Barcelona and I noted that he hails from Valencia City which, I think, is also on the Mediterranean. Thought you might like to touch bases with him and also welcome him to the community. Well it's getting late I gotta go. Hope the studies are going well and hope to speak with you soon.
Best

Hi Carmen
Just wanted to touch bases with you. I did send a response to your last message to me a couple of weeks ago, through the message feature here, and hadn't heard from you. I thought perhaps you hadn't discovered your "inbox", the little envelope icon symbol at the top of your page. I found this with a couple friends and I didn't find my inbox, myself, on the site until I had been here quite a few months. Hope your doing well. Let me know what you think of the two video posts I recently put up, "Well, Did You Evah?" with Mr. Crosby and Sinatra, and the wonderful Boswell Sisters doing "Crazy People" from 1932. Hope you enjoy them. Also hope you're doing well. Keep in touch.

Hi Carmen,
Thank you for your kind words. I look forward to exchanging comments on Radio Deluxe.

I'm not sure who the lyricist was for "Mona Lisa" but I agree that it's a beautiful song. It was actually Nat King Cole's "Christmas Song" that made me fall in love with the standards when I was 12 - when I heard his voice I needed to learn more about him. Then I discovered he originally had a trio and thought he was the perfect musician. Even though I studied classical piano all my life, I really aspired to be like Nat King Cole.

Good to hear from you. Sounds like you have a very full schedule now though I must say that hanging out at the beach is something I'd like to see on my schedule more often. When you're ready to tackle guitar left me know and I'll try to get you connected with a local teacher. Keep in touch. This really is a great website with a lot of people with very similar tastes in music.

Carmen,
Art is certainly correct about Frankie Randell. I hadn't heard his name for years and on reading it in your profile, being inquisitive, I googled and found his website http://www.frankierandall.com/ . He is in Las Vegas and appears to perform regularly in California according to his schedule. Looks like the music just follows you. Hope you get a chance to see him. Thank you, also for accepting the RD friends request.

I believe Frankie Randall is still alive and well in Palm Springs. Buddy Greco has a club there and still performs. If you're around for Labor Day weekend, check out westcoastjazzparty.com. It takes place in Irvine, right down the freeway from you (sorta).

Ms. Cabrerra
Just perusing the Radio Deluxe site today, noticed your activity, visited your page and read your delightful response to my playing. Thank you very much for the compliment. I would encourage you that it is never to late to learn to play. I've taught students as old as 86 years who finally followed that dream and you are a youngster in that respect. You already have many of the tools. You seem to have the energy ("work out like crazy"), rhythm (being a dancer) and have a good introduction to the musical language (being a club singer). All you would need to do is access some of the technique on that guitar that you love so much to add the instrument to your resume. I would be happy, though my network, to try to help find a teacher in your areas that could teach you to play like Charro or who might teach a style similar to what I play. Go for it!
Best regards
