If you haven't already done it, you may check out Whit's current rig on the Hot Club's home page, www.hotclubofcowtown.com, and if you click on "equipment," you'll find some very cool vintage Gibson stuff. Speaking of Gibson, up in my attic gathering dust is a GA 5T (not a 50, unfortunately, or it wouldn't be gathering dust) Skylark that I got for a song at a guitar show about 20 years ago.
The Hot Club is coming east in May, but will get no farther north than Martinsburg, West Va., on May 24. Miriam and I will catch the act at the Jammin' Java in Vienna, Va. (DC suburb) on 5/23.

Thank much for the compliments on our music. The gentlemen I work with are, indeed, extraordinary+ players. Unfortunately, we don't do much work out of the NW region. I being the baby in the band at 55y.o., by at least 15 years, (these guys just blow me away in their 70's, they haven't lost a step) we don't tend to travel much, though for the right price I may get them to hop on a plane. Certainly enjoy what i hear on your audio samples also. Hope we can make a connection someday.
Certainly all the best

Hey man, I saw you comment on the Hot Club of Cowtown MySpace page. That band is as good as it gets, better than ever now, and I'm really glad they're back together again. I saw 'em in Philadelphia just before the breakup and at the Rodeo Bar in NYC last year, and in between Miriam and I caught Elana playing for tips at Threadgill's North in Austin, Tex. Whit really nails that big fat '40s Western Swing-Benny Garcia sound, don't you think?

That 'record player on my home page is something that came to mind when I thought about ‘records,’ a way to say it vividly, and always a reminder of America’s rich musical history. Back in the day (as 78s faded away, or broke into a thousand pieces when dropped on the cement floor), we'd stack on a half-dozen 45-RPMs and let them play through.
"Burning the Toast," is an April Barrows song I find so affable, just downright neighborly. And that makes it an ideal addition to our first “Fabulous Places” travel music CD, this one with a slight bed and breakfast accent.
I love your “Be Careful What You Wish For,” and you’ve got the bravely distinctive voice that could be around for a while.
By the way, does the domain richjenkins.com belong to you? There’s a Richard Jenkins out there that owns about 140 domains including this. If it’s not you, I think you can snap it up for about $100. You might want to pick it up and put it away for a while (unless already it belongs to you).
Rich, that's a homemade guitar, made not by me but for me by a fine Detroit-area luthier, Gary Zimnicki. His website is www.zimnicki.com. It's a lovely little archtop, only 15" across the lower bout and 2 1/2" wide, built to fit me perfectly. I'm also a Gibson lover, but I sold my 175 (plus a '46 Epi Triumph) to finance Gary's guitar. I still have (that is, my son still has) the Gibson SJN Country Western flattop I bought new in 1966 after saving my pennies for a whole year. List price was $210 with a pasteboard case, and I got it for $180 at Rhythm City in Atlanta, Georgia. The case disintegrated about 40 years ago. My first Gibson was the lowest-end archtop of the day (I think an L-48) that my mother gave me as a high school graduation present. Much to my regret it was stolen in a house break-in.
